   Summary : La majorité des membres ont trouvé le livre excessivement long et ont estimé qu'il manquait de dynamisme narratif. Pour beaucoup, cette œuvre dense a semblé s'étendre sans apporter suffisamment d'éléments captivants pour maintenir l'intérêt. Cependant, un de nos lecteurs ne partageait pas cet avis, étant totalement enchanté par le récit. Il a été particulièrement touché par la manière dont le livre explore le thème du héroïsme et par l'évolution du personnage du Père Paneloux au fil de l'histoire. Le brunch.
3. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow — Gabrielle Zevin

   Summary : Opinion was very divided on this book. While all agree that the prose was bland and uninspired, certain readers felt there were valuable perspectives and themes developed within. In particular, it's nice to see a decent portrayal of video games in a book. Similarly to shows like Friends are Grey's Anatomy, the book can be easily consumed, and perhaps forgotten. Nevertheless, the author has sparked a newfound interest in video games among our members, and for that, they deserve our commendation. The meal.
4. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass — Lewis Carroll

   Summary : The book elicited a range of reactions from our club members. While certain members were absolutely enamored, finding it a delightful embodiment of the joyous process wherein an adult shares his enchanting vision of life with a child, others were less enthusiastic (a notable critique for some was the perceived lack of a strong narrative thread). The tea-party scene was a standout for many, with its fascinating alternative logical rules, as well as the encounter with the Caterpillar, delving into themes of identity and transformation, echoing another popular moment where a bird mistakes Alice for a serpent. 5. L'Analphabète & Le grand cahier — Agota Kristof

   Summary : Chacun s'accorde à dire que Le Grand Cahier a su captiver avec son style épuré, son ambiance surréaliste, ses personnages hors du commun et ses rebondissements inattendus, le tout apporté par une narration en première personne plurielle. Concernant 'l'Analphabète', un membre a été particulièrement marqué par la divergence entre ses valeurs et celles de l'autrice, une perception qui a d'ailleurs teinté sa lecture de Le Grand Cahier. 6. The Round House: A Novel — Louise Erdrich

   Summary : Everyone enjoyed this book. Particular highlights were: the context of a first nation reservation (for many of us, a relatively unknown culture), the theme of justice (in its many forms and with its many limitations), the mixture of multiple spiritual systems and the beautiful descriptions of a young teenager wrestling with his emotions surrounding parental strife.    Synthèse : Les avis sont partagés. Alors que certains apprécient la prose aérée, d’autres la trouve trop simple. Néon-moins, tout le monde s’accorde sur le fait que l’histoire est intéressante et ressortons enrichis de cette lecture nous ayant fait découvrir l’histoire de Gregor. Une de nos membres a été particulièrement frappée par l'injustice que Gregor a subie tout au long de sa vie, s'identifiant d'autant plus à lui en tant que compatriote serbe. Le brunch.
